Ha! I got my first rifle from Service Merchandise back in the early 80s. The 10/22 was too expensive for a kid on a meager allowance, but a Marlin 60 could be had with 4x Tasco scope for all of $65! I took this very same rifle to the range today and had a little fun. I upgraded the scope a few years after I got it, but other than that it is original down to the squirrel stock!



I'm currently putting together the parts to build a 10/22, and it's turning out to be a whole lot more expensive than they were when I was a teenager! Luckily I no longer have to depend on an allowance to buy such things.
