Xtra full or gobbler chokes are not always better!

Pattern your load and choke combos people! Bought an Xtra full for my son's 20 gauge and patterned it yesterday to compare to the full choke and wow! The full patterned much more uniformly out to 35 yards! At 25 yards the Xtra full had "blotches" of shot on the pattern board and total pattern way wider than the full!

Never assume an Xtra full choke is going to work in your gun. Go to the range and pattern it.

That said......The gun with full choke is good to 35 yards with the 3 inch loads we have selected. That's fine as long as we know the max ethical distance now.

Also a good idea to pattern it with the loads you hunt with. Most chokes pattern differently with different loads, even of the same weight.

That was the goal. Settled on federal 3 inch #6 turkey loads. All the ones we tested out of the Xtra full choke were terrible.
