Yet another AR15 article - not a hit-piece, more an informational narrative that appears fairly neutral. And a plug for the authors’ new book. I have no idea who wants to read such books. AR15 owners? Nah…. Anti-gunners? Maybe - just to lift facts out of context. AR15 manufacturers attempt to market their products and make profits? Sinful!

Come now. You know better than most that academics must "publish or perish." They're writing it to be able to say they wrote it and increase their profile.

That was interesting about the Bushmaster history, thanks.

The article failed to mention how police departments armed up with AR15s before the public did. And now they carry automatic rifles in their squad cars.

I’m not sure why the surge in AR documentary articles in 2023. I can see Biden trying some EO to mess with ARs before the election - anything to get a few more votes. But not so soon that he’d lose in court before next year’s elections. It’ll be Bread and Circuses June-Nov 2024.

All that gun owners need is fear to get them panic buying, but I question if people have the money to do that now and after all that was bought in 2020 IDK what more there is for people to buy.

Ammo lasts and I can't see what would cause the prices on the common, popular stuff to drop by much next year, so no reason not to stock up on more .22, .223, and 9mm, but the less popular calibers and revolver calibers especially, I can see those going down in the future because the supply has been shit for them since Covid and once the supply gets better the prices will too.

Guns you should be buying now because inflation is only going to make them more over time.

I love how the detailed choice of emotion-manipulating words can state facts, but force people to come to a bogus conclusion about the topic.

The media is nothing but a propaganda arm for the Democrat socialists.

And they wonder why they have no more credibility.

So, according to rough estimates of the graph, I estimate 18.5m ARs since Obama was elected? Do democrats get it yet that their policies are the primary catalyst in the demand for more and more weapons?

This article and I assume the book focuses way to much on active shooters using AR15s IMHO.
A tiny fraction of guns used in Mass Shootings are AR15s and an infinitesimal fraction of all AR15s are used in Mass shootings.

Sorry - thought I did just that Essay | The Selling of America’s Most Controversial Gun

It’s a corollary to ”Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth”, attributed to Goebbels, that if you focus on a few trees long enough, you lose sight of the forest.

The gun control advocates have turned AR15 statistics over dozens of times over decades and they can only find single-digit increments in harms.

Why do I need a AR15? Since Biden won’t let us buy F-16s, we’re stuck with AR15s. And when TSHTF (aka, Go-Time), the pistol braces come out of the closet and we pass out Glock switches!

Thanks. I hear that the WSJ has been taken over by Murdoch’s woke kids, so the paper has lurched woke left.

Local store was throwing out the weekend edition yesterday so I grabbed a free copy. Read the article. Waste of time. Didn’t tell us anything we don’t already know. Just a history lesson on the AR and some background on Bushmaster. Junk piece.

The article mostly dealt with the business side of AR manufacturing, focusing on the private equity firm (Cerberus) that first acquired Bushmaster and grew the business.

I've been reading the WSJ for nearly 40 years. Murdoch seems to have largely kept his promise when he acquired them of maintaining their editorial independence. Yes, they hate Trump. But they would have hated him whether Murdoch owned them or not.
