White House says Biden prepared to issue EO’s on guns

We get closer and closer every day to adding 2 senators in DC and possibly Peurto Rico.

...again: How? How does Washington become a state? Can you sketch that out in a way that actually makes sense, rather than just loudly saying iT's GOnnA hAppEn BeCAuse THe dEMs aRe IN cHArgE AnD bowSEr WanTS IT?

I don't see how it happens. It would require repealing a Constitutional amendment and, perhaps, figuring out a brand-new capital district. Both of those would require nationwide support which just isn't there.

Puerto Rico statehood has been a hot issue since 1940, when it showed up in the Dem party platform. Then the President almost got assassinated over it in 1950. It comes and it goes. Maybe someday it'll come, maybe not. That's at least more likely than DC becoming a state, but the process takes awhile and it's shown no signs of actually happening. Plus the majority in favor of statehood down there is still very narrow, even within the margin of error, and that's AFTER a huge push for it in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. When Hawaii joined, 93% supported it. PR is a FAR cry from that.

It'll most likely tamp down again. As it has many times over the past century.

Good thing EOs mean jack shit.

they mean jack unless nobody files suit in opposition (Mitch) or an authoritative legal body punts on reviewing them (Scrotus), and then swamp bureaucrats will go forward with their implementation (ATF, FBI) and the local thin blue line will tighten around your neck like a noose.

In the meantime, we become instant felons, subject to arrest and prosecution. Great. Go to prison. Lose job. Lose your home. Have spouse leave you and file for divorce. Declare bankruptcy. Then have verdict overturned by SCOTUS years later, after your life is completely ruined. What a victory!
With that mindset, we never would have become one of the greatest countries the world has ever seen...(though not so much lately)

Sound familiar?

We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately. ~Benjamin Franklin~

There u go again going all public school teacher on here. Nobody is loudly saying anything. You clearly have a bigger Richard than everyone on here and are the smartest guy on the internet but explain to us what “Constitutional Amendment” needs to be passed?? Congress has the power to create a state once it passes the House and Senate with certain rules under Article 4 Section 3. And those crazy idiots just met this week to submit the Bill for DC to become one. Not saying it’s gonna happen, but it may only be a matter of time. And I’m saying it like a gentleman.

23rd amendment.

It apportions electoral college representation from the capital district. There's no way to eliminate that district, just to shrink it, which (under some scenarios) would result in nothing but the White House being in DC. Which would mean that the WH's residents would automatically get three electoral votes all by themselves, an obvious conflict of interest.

A bill establishing DC statehood, I expect, would see an immediate federal injunction preventing it until the status of the 23rd amendment could be decided.

My Richard is not overwhelming, nor would I call that "saying it like a gentleman." These things are not difficult to research.

Hmmm. Have u seen what the Dems are doing to voting rights and laws?? Saying the 23rd amendment will protect this is like saying our 2nd amendment will protect our guns. Still not being loud.

I'm telling you: do the research yourself. There's no need to believe me.

There are several serious constitutional issues involved here, not so much with granting DC statehood but with eliminating the Federal District. It's not as simple as a mere vote in Congress, because unlike every other statehood DC has a unique and constitutionally-mandated status already, which would need to be dealt with. It's not a freestanding chunk of wilderness, a territory with a territorial legislature like the VAST majority of the rest of the pre-States have been, nor is it anything like Puerto Rico. Its relationship with Congress is unique and poorly-adjudicated, and it would need to be sorted out before it could change.

There are several alternatives that are FAR more likely than DC statehood, mostly because they're less complicated. Again, feel free to look all that up yourself; I already have.

I have

Then why are you so certain DC statehood is going to happen? Other than shrill statements by Muriel Bowser and the same ol' same ol' DC statehood resolutions that get introduced all the time in the House and then go nowhere, what gives you any sense that DC statehood is right around the corner this time?

Would unconstituonal EO be grounds for impeachment?

Anyways- as per the article firearm EO’s aren’t even his current priority- so who knows. Also if it happens, with over 100million firearm owners in this country, the democrats are gauranteed to lose seats at the mid term which will implode their strategy. From what I understand his EO’s IF they happen will be to ban the import of ak’s and demand 80% lowers be reclassified.

Watch out for the ATF reclassifying what a firearm is. They are considering to reclassify upper receivers as firearms as well. (Bs they are circumventing the law as an executive branch, I know)

You love putting words in people’s mouths. When did I say right around the corner? I said closer and closer. But here u go: look at the political landscape of 2021...it ain’t 1950. The Dems blatantly stole an election, they are trying to set thier power in stone with HR1 and completely abolish any competition. They have the Senate with Harris tiebreaker to pass this DC shit if they want. They have never, ever been this close and they want it bad. I wish I was as optimistic as you but unfortunately I’m not. They will shit all over the 23rd amendment like they do with the rest of them.

The part about uppers, that's something I have been saying we ought to be concerned about for awhile.

Basically with ARs they know the definition doesn't quite add up that a lower is even a firearm and remains and outstanding legal quagmire. Of course an upper doesn't meet the definition either.

Nothing is guaranteed but is best to stock complete sets if one is playing the game. I am a couple short, unfortunately they are such a pain to get lately too - one has been backordered since October.

For sure.

I do kinda wonder how they get around a specific legal definition. Its one thing to re-interpret enforcement of something foggy, another to violate existing law.

Someone will say they make it up as they go but calling an upper a firearm is whole lot more far fetched than arguments that a bump stock creates a full auto.

They will shit all over the 23rd amendment like they do with the rest of them.

Right, I get all that, but this is the part I'm trying to wrap my head around.

Read the 23rd. It's nothing like the second. It was written by modern lawyers. It's completely unequivocal, and it's in the Constitution. So there's only one way to get it out of the Constitution, and that's to pass an amendment. Which is, as it should be, a PITA that nobody wants to mess with. Including the Democrats, particularly the ones in the Senate; they, like the RINO Senators, are not exactly profiles in courage.

It's not that I'm optimistic, at all. It's that I'm not panicking.

It's still straight up retarded.

Lol if you want something to ActuallyWorryAbout(TM) worry about Texas flipping blue. Which basically means, no more non-dem presidents, ever.

There is a exponentially greater chance of that happening in the next 20 years than DC ever becoming a state.

Agreed. You know its funny I swore 10+ years ago the whole country was going more and more left then years after we got Trump. Seems like the good thing about democrat insanity is they invest all their winnings into swinging further left and eventually lose what was gained.

...it would also give the presidents family his own three electoral votes.

I cite this up in post 68.

DC statehood is a lot more complicated than anyone wants to seriously deal with. That'd be a tough sausage to make, especially when there are so many simpler solutions to all the DC problems.

Nobody denies that living in DC comes with voting disadvantages. But that's why DC's residents are free to leave whenever they want to.

Anything to take attention away from the D's war on women and what's happening at the southern border.... You have a Prez who stands accused of rape by 1 and sexual abuse by 7. You have a governor in NY who now has what, 8 accusors at this point... You have a Democrat party running a "Empowering Woman and Girls" tour that headlines Bill Clinton (rapist and serial sexual abuser, multiple visits to pedophile island w/ Jeff Epstein, and Kamala Harris who started her political career by using her snatch block to sleep her way into politics and earned herself the name heels up Harris.)... Yea, real "empowering".... Empowering them to what... shut up and take it, that's the only way to get ahead? f***ing sick....

True it's a tough sausage to make but they have the majority right now and can accomplish alot before the midterms. With mail in voting to their advantage they can cram sausage down our throats without consequence.

because 'it is a right thing to do'. what other justification can you possible require in the age of wokeness?
DC statehood is one of their core agenda topics, it is supposed to shift the balance of power. all they need to do is to get rid of the filibuster.

"All they need to do is get rid of the filibuster" and DC becomes a state?

I give up. Enjoy your tinfoil, gang. Y'all sure do love you some doom porn.

why give up?
Placed on Senate Legislative Calendar under General Orders.

what makes you think it will not pass?
I see no reason they won't go there. DC statehood, PR statehood, HR1 and path to citizenship for 11-30 million illegals. All are designed to establish a permanent, insurmountable Democrat majority. All that's needed to add a state is an accepted state constitution, simple majorities in congress and a compliant President's signature. That's a pretty low bar.
Think they won't do it? The only thing standing in their way is accepting the audacity of the plan and the filibuster. I see nothing that says they won't go there. If it starts to look like the house may flip in 2022 and it becomes a "now or never" situation, I'd say it's close to a lock.

I'd recommend AllChars,
except that under Windows 10 it jams the shift key half the time.

Let's give it a try...™...OK it worked, this time.

(I have all the LK201 compose sequences programmed in to it.
That was:
  1. Punch RH Ctrl key.
  2. Punch "t" key.
  3. Punch "m" key.
).
