Viewing thumbnails

for many months I have not been able to view thumbnails, when I click on one the whole screen goes to a smoke/dark overlay and stays the same underneath. Click again and the dark overlay disappears. I do not have popups blocked and am using Firefox 2.0.0.20. I didn't care until I finally saw a set I wanted to see. I am using a 10 year old Mac and really don't want to spring fo a new computer.

Have you tried upgrading your Firefox? v2 is quite old. I'm using 3.6 and don't have the issues.

I would like to but my OS won't support a newer version. I thought that might be the issue but I can't verify.
