Hi -

Has anyone come across a store in MA / RI that sells pistol competition shooting gear like the CR High-Torque Belt (or similar Bianchi, etc) and mag holders (uncle mikes, etc) or is it safe to assume this gear should be purchased on-line?

After participating in the rifle shoot last weekend - I now have the bug...

PS: Thanks to all of the Harvard Sportsmen folks for organizing the event and for providing a few rookies w/ some much needed guidance. Despite the weather, I couldn’t have asked for a better day. This is really a top notch group and I highly recommend their events!!

Kudos to everyone - (especially Brent and Frank for all of their patience).

I haven't found an actual storefront yet, but you might want to try www.mle-shootingsports.com
Mike shoots at some of the local matches like Manville, RI and carries much of the gear you mention. He's a great guy to do business with.

+1 on Mike at MLE.

He supports the shooting sports and supports local shooters.

Do business with him with confidence.

Shoot with what you carry in real life.

USPSA/IDPA are not training, but they can be used as practical practice if you avoid the temptation to game it to the nth degree.

I know of no shop in New England that has the items you ask about in stock.

For sources:

MLE is good. Check inventory I believe CR is a new product for Mike.(link already given)

Shooters Connection is good-Chuck usually has items in stock http://www.shootersconnection.com/

Speed Shooter's Specialties-Kenny usually has items in stock http://speedshooterspecialties.com/

Ghost products-Angus has a good inventory http://www.ghostholster.com/

For Kydex gear, I always recommend Talon Tactical. Good product and you are dealing with the guy who makes it. http://www.talontactical.com/

Regards,

If you are going to shoot Single Stack or production, you can use a basic holster and mag pouches, Fobus or Uncle Mikes. Place like 4 seasons and Northeast Traders carry a selction

If you want to get more specialized stuff, then any of the above named places will work.

Be careful though. 4 month after I started shooting USPSA I ordered an Open Gun.[smile] This sport is very addictive

Supermoto is correct.
Decide where you want to start, then specifics can be answered accurately. Another option is buying used stuff from shooters that changed divisions or have advanced. Also, if you plan on shooting 3gun/multigun those games have an impact on your equipment.

If you are just starting out an inexpensive Kydex holster and mag pouches will work and can do double duty as a carry rig. Don't spend a lot of money up front; your tastes will most likely change as you gain experience. You should see my holster collection!

Not to mention IPSC pistols!
