Does a $30 entry fee seem a little steep to anyone else?

From what I understand, the $30 fee is necessary to meet the rental fee S&W requires to open up their ranges for the match - it's not caused by match director greed.

30 is steep, if this were a typical outdoor weekly match in the summer with no prizes, but i know it isn't because of anything by the match crew, like it was mentioned earlier, that cost is because of S&W's fees. Their range, their fees. not many other places to go play in the winter.
S&W has heat, insurance, electricity, taxes, all that stuff to pay for, so although it's more than we are used to, it's kinda reasonable. when you factor in there is still $3 per entry for uspsa, and whatever all the targets and materials cost.

and John..... they make revolvers in 9x21?

No entry fee to watch. more fun to shoot though.....
Everyone, please note:
There are some SAFETY rule changes that everyone needs to know about. Because of the recent tragic events, there are some changes at S&W this winter. All those who are running stages have had to go through a course at S&W to be certified as S&W Safety officers.
For Shooters, the most important change for us will be the elimination of safe areas on all the ranges.
Going forward, before the match, there will only be one safe area for you to handle your firearm.
We will determine which range on match day & let everyone know at registration.
Please understand, you may only handle your firearm under RO/SO supervision. This is the only place you will be able to uncase your gun before the match to check your sights, holster and un-holster your guns etc. This will be a major change for all of us who have shot there before. During the match, if you have to use a safe area, if it's something quick, it can be done on the line of whatever stage your shooting on, Just ask the RO/SO on the stage. The other option is to go to the public range. Your entry fee gives you access to it.
Other Safety notes:
There will be NO Wolf brand ammo is allowed on S&W ranges, NO EXCEPTIONS (or any other ammo known to use steel cores)
On S&W ranges, all Minor competitors must be accompanied by their legal guardian at all times on the range. (No Dutch uncles, Grandpas etc..)
All shooters must have proper Eye and Ear protection as well as a HAT, (please bring your own, you'll look dumb in a cheap painters hat, unless your a painter!)
No Minor spectator are allowed on S&W ranges
After the match, when your finished, you can un-holster and case your gun on your last stage only under RO/SO supervision or on the public range.
You may "holster up" & handle other gear anywhere, only No unsupervised Firearm handling.

Thanks to all that came & helped their squad. [smile]

We had a few prop & exhuast issues, [puke]
but we got through them,

At least my squad got to see me embarass myself with a revolver (again)

I'm going for my lead test now.........[thinking]

I was very relieved to see that even the great and mighty USPSA matches fall victim to the same ailments as other shooting sports. Alas, it is always the same with humans....

Thanks for working John.

You now have the keys to the Kingdom. Use them for good, Lord Vader.

Running any of these matches is quite a challenge. Things don't always go the way you want. As a shooter- that's why I hope for the best- but don't get freaked out when things go sideways.

I'm sure the next match will go well... hopefully I'll get to one out there soon.

I'd bet you could get Randy Lee or the guys at Cylinder and Slide to make you up a gun conversion in 9x21....TKW could maybe do that too...

Why would any red-blooded American want to take the world's most versatile handgun in its truest form, chambered in an honest-to-God, carried-by-Patton, momma-baseball and apple pie, do-everything caliber and convert it into a left wing European socialist lapdog moon-clipped abomination?

That is downright subversive.

Now, sit at your desks and say 10 Pledges of Allegiance before you go to your room without supper!

John, you wrinkle a single flaxen hair on that 586's perfectly blued cylinder and there will be hell to pay. I'll find a LeMat for you if you really want a useless revolver.

No Minors allowed on S&W ranges

I assume the oxymoron was unintentional :)

Thanks for taking the extra effort to deal with these new necessities.

The Minors with guardians refers to competitors

The No Minors refers to spectators

sorry for the confusion, hope that clarifies it for you.

I wouldn't dream of it, [wink]
but there is a 8 shot cylinder for sale on Enos I was thinking about buying & sending to Pinnacle to convert to 9x23-9x21-9x19 as an extra of course![thinking] Or I could just change my name to 38/357[rofl]

Now I have to go & put some SPEED in Speedloader![laugh2]

That is a better idea.

I will ask on Thursday if our friends can assist with your quest.

The scores are up. I cannot interpret USPSA scoring (yet).

Did we slay the Rebels Master?

I have some extra speed I will loan you until yours arrives.

Had an awesome time today as usual. The last stage (stage 1) gave me that rush I am always looking for. You know it is good when your hands are shaking (after the stage of course).
I gotta thank 9x21 and Lopez for ROing our squad and hanging in there for those first two ranges with NO ventilation. That was the worst I have ever experienced and there was no break to get fresh air for those two. My eyes are still irritated.

It is kinda weird seeing John shooting a revolver again this week.
Craig, don't lend him too much speed you may not get it back and will likely be looking at the back of him before long!
