There are two terms that the Bradyists have successfully injected into the common dialog- assault weapon and gun crime. Every time we use, repeat, or quote those terms we further legitimize them. I use "criminal violence" and "sporting rifle" or "semi-auto", or anything rational to keep from furthering their cause. A little help here...

Same problem when we call these foreign invaders anything BUT Illegal Aliens.

I totally agree.
"Gun violence" is basically a method to blame the gun for the violence.
when i hear dipshits saying "assault weapon" or "gun crime" i ask them to define said terms and they invariably fumble their words like a dyslexic 2nd grader.

I call "high capacity clips" standard capacity magazines and 10 round or less "clips" low capacity magazines. I call "assault rifles" modern firearms with the disclaimer that "Assault Rifles" are the full auto or 3 round burst guns the military carries that have been banned for private purchase and ownership since 1986 under NFA.

Frustrating how many vendors, manufacturers, youtubers and writers call a 9mm 15rd magazine "high capacity". That BS term is purely political. 15rd mags existed long before "capacity" was even considered. Drives me nuts. I havemt uttered the words "high cap" in a long time and i hope i never do.

Not to nitpick but...
The National Firearms Act (NFA), 72nd Congress, Sess. 2, ch. 757, 48 Stat. 1236, enacted on June 26, 1934,

You mean the GCA. Gun Control Act of 1968.
The GCA created what is known as the "sporting purposes" standard for imported firearms, saying that they must "be generally recognized as particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes." GCA sporting purposes includes hunting and organized competitive target shooting, but does not include "plinking" or "practical shooting" (which the ATF says is closer to police/combat-style competition and not comparable to more traditional types of sports), nor does it allow for collection for historical or design interest.[19][20]:16-18 Hence, foreign made assault rifles and machine guns such as the AK-47, the FN FAL or the Heckler & Koch MP5 could no longer be imported into the United States for civilian ownership (however, semi-automatic models of the same weapons were permitted until the definition of sporting purpose was further tightened in 1989).

I have started classifying all forms of violence in my communications: knife and fist violence. I also speak of mouth violence when someone is being insulting. My liberal friends are starting to get the point.

The term "assault weapon" is a big pile of fertilizer. When the British attacked (assaulted) Breed's Hill (AKA Bunker Hill Battle) their weapons were considered assault weapons; from their bayonets to their artillery. The colonist were in a defensive position so all of their weapons were defensive weapons; from their bayonets to their artillery and even though their weapons were very similar, if not exactly like each others, they played both roles. When the tide of the battle turned the combatants did not run and exchange their "assault" weapons for "defensive" weapons and visa versa. "Assault" does not describe a piece of hardware, it is a term describing how a weapon is being used or the intention. No matter how modern or archaic a weapon is it can be used for either with maybe the exception of an IED (which I would consider strictly an assault). If you shoot an intruder with your M4 Escort AEG you are defending your life and property. All these words and bills assaulting the Second Amendment and our rights assured therein should be banned as assault weapons!

Progressives are playing long ball by using language to change perception. It has been subtle over the last 100 years, but under the king of all progressive radicals, it has accelerated dramatically and this rush for the border is the latest part of the plan. By now they had hoped to have the population disarmed, but we have stopped it so far, don't ever give up!

Illegal Alien >> Undocumented Alien >> Undocumented Immigrant

See what they did there. It is insidious, and real. You are right, we must reject the changing of perceived reality by these people or we lose everything.

Gun violence= Gang violence
Sick of seeing this used by the dim wit news stations as well.

I think it's annoying that we're happy to define assault weapons as more-or-less machine guns and we point out that they're already banned.

But we don't think machine guns should be banned.

the other phrase is "active shooter" every time a nut job shoots up a mall. My point is that shooting is an honorable thing.
Technically, the phrase is not incorrect, but it also isn't totally correct either. Couldn't we use a more technically correct phrase? Like: Mass Murderer, or shooting spree?

Otherwise what do you call all the people enjoying their 2a lawfully at indoor/outdoor ranges?
Technically, we are all at some point in time active shooters, and nobody needs to call the police on us.

Saying gun crime or gun violence is the same as saying inanimate object crime or violence.
As any sane person knows it is impossible for an inanimate object to do anything.
So when you hear someone using these terms you know they are a propagandist or ignorant, most likely both.

Meh, the defeatists here wo say we can't win and should run away are much, much worse.

"Assault Weapon" and "Gun Violence" are the two biggest anti gun invented, disingenuous douchebag terms ever invented.
