Not sure if this is the right category for this but here goes...

I need to know what the bullet drop on a .223 round is going to be at 50, 100 and 150 yds...I ran some numbers and came up the following...

This is based on a 55gr FMJBT .223 bullet. My table shows that with the rifle zeroed for 50yds i will have .04 RISE at 100 yds and then 0.5 drop at 150yds...sound right? essentially negligible drop? I am not looking for extreme tack driving accuracy...just a general feel. I have shot a ton of .22 rimfire and the drops are huge...seeing such small drops kind of thru me off and i am just looking for validation.

Thanks.

I can't help in the way of the trajectory but, what units are the rise and fall? Inches? feet? MOA?

The numbers for my .223 bolt sierra 55gr hpbt at 3200fps are:
Zero=50 100=+.5 150=-.02 175=-1 200=-2.2

My normal zero for this rifle is 300 yards

It's a varmint cartridge and has a very flat trajectory. Don't forget to be exact on the sight height. It will make a difference in the way the numbers come out on the chart.

Did you enter the correct sight height into jbm? On AR's it's usually 2.5".
Here is the input data I used:
Ballistic Coefficient: 0.243 G1
Caliber: 0.223 in
Bullet Weight: 55.0 gr
Muzzle Velocity: 3241.0 ft/s
Distance to Chronograph: 10.0 ft
Sight Height: 2.50 in
My Result:
Ranger in Yards - Drop in inches

0 -2.5
25 -1.1
50 0.0
75 0.9
100 1.6
125 1.9
150 2.0
175 1.8
200 1.3
225 0.4
250 -0.9
275 -2.6
300 -4.7
325 -7.4
350 -10.5
375 -14.2
400 -18.6
