todays cost for 5000 primers

I'd be paying from $25-$35/1000 depending on where I picked them up.

Unless you're REALLY desperate anything more than $35 is a ripoff, and even
that is a bit high .

Hopefully you're not looking for small rifle primers. Those seem to be orders of magnitude harder
to find than all the other types combined. I have not seen a box of standard small rifle primers in
any store for months, although I see oddballs like "small rifle magnum" and "benchrest small rifle" from
time to time, which may work as a substitute depending on your application.

The high price that I'm willing to pay is fixed at 30$/1000 right now.

Desperation hasn't set in yet since I've still got a few in the cabinet.

I've had 10,000 SR on back order since January at $25.00 per thousand. I'm willing to bet that when/if the order ever gets filled it will be at a much higher price.

I'm calling 2009 the "year of waiting." Besides primers, I am currently waiting for the following:

S&W to return my PPK, mailed in March.
4,000 55gr bullets, also back ordered since January.
An AR15 upper in .22LR, ordered in December of 2008.

I'm also waiting for voters in Massachusetts to show some intelligence at the ballot box; been waiting a few decades on this one. [wink]

If patience is a virtue, I must be working on Sainthood.

I just paid $41 for 1000 small rifle match primers.
The only ones I could find so I had to pick them up.
