Thoughts on Westwood Gun Club?

Westwood MA? or is there a Westwood in NH?

Don't really know anything about them, but I think some of the folks at Sharon F&G (back when I was active there, pre-98) were members at Westwood. Wasn't the Col. (Walter) a former club president at Westwood?

If you are the Adam I think you are, you should know who I'm thinking of (can't recall his last name now).

ETA: A bit of info on the club is here: http://www.goal.org/clubs/affiliations/norfolkclubs.html#Westwood

Can't tell you much about it, but as I stated in the other thread, they have nice 50 and 100 yd ranges and allow full auto shooting.

Just so you know, they do not have an indoor range as I recall.

What are you looking for in a club?

Hopefully Joe. R. will pop in and answer any of your questions specific to the club.

You may be thinking of the Westford Sportsmen's Club in Westford, MA. This club is a shooters club and very active. I am a member and hold many of the classes run by Neshooters, LLC there. If I can help just let me know.

That's funny with the president.

I usually go to the range on a Sunday but can also go on a Saturday if needed. Let me know when you want to go and I can show you around.

Are they open for new members?
What is the process to join?

The Westwood gun club is actually a club. http://westwoodgunclub.com/

I've called the president twice (he's the only number listed) and he won't call back. I really want to check it out but I don't want to waste a trip to find it closed.

This has some info on it

Westwood Gun Club

Hi all,

As mentioned in another post I'm a newbie. I've applied for a Class A and have been told all looks good.

It turns out I live within five minutes walking distance of the Westwood gun club. Are there any members in this group? What do you think of the club?

Thanks,

RichC

Do an advanced search on "Westwood" in this forum (as a title) and you should find a prior thread about the club. That should give you some good info on the club.

There are a few current or past officers of said club here on NES and I'm sure they and some members can answer all your questions and show you around the club.

Hi RichC, give me a PM with your email or phone number and I will give you all the info about the club.

Thank you

Hi all,

I visited the Westwood Gun club on Sunday and club president Joe was really helpful. We chatted with several members and Joe spent a fair amount of time sharing information about how to begin in this sport. He was incredibly gracious and informative.

Once my license comes through (soon I hope!) I'll be submitting an application for membership. Again thanks to this forum and to Joe for all the kind help.

Best,

rich

It is with a great deal of sadness that I have to report the loss of a long time personal friend and former President of Westwood Gun Club, Lt. Col. Walter J. Landry, Jr.

Walter was a true gentleman and will sorely be missed by those of us that had the privilege to know him.

I posted the obituary notice in the Military forum, here: http://www.northeastshooters.com/vb...-Wonderful-Man-RIP-Col!?p=3520867#post3520867
