The simpsons

Not bad for a four fingered, ultra left scocialist femma-nazi carpet-munching elitest self doubting now-it-all,,, Am I reading to much into this???[laugh]

"You cannot invade mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind each blade of grass."

Admiral Yamamoto: Advising Japan's military leaders of the futility of an invasion of the mainland United States because of the widespread availability of guns. It has been theorized that this was a major contributing factor in Japan's decision not to land on North America early in the war when they had vastly superior military strength. This delay gave our industrial infrastructure time to gear up for the conflict and was decisive in our later victory.

You are deluded.

There was NEVER a plan to launch such an invasion. The Japanese couldn't invade Hawaii, still less the mainland US. They had neither the forces to make such an invasion nor the means to deliver, still less supply, an invasion force.

You have taken as true a fabrication gun lovers WISH was true. It isn't.

Everything I've read says that quote was a fabrication.

Agreed. Up there with the other mendacious "quotes" of Hitler about the new gun control law and George Orwell about the "rough men standing ready in the night."

You don't mean this?

"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."

Anyone catch the episode tonite? The army invaded Springfield and the town over ran them. It ends with Lisa saying that they proved no foriegn enemy could invade and concour and determined and armed populice

The Simpsons are riddled with pro gun stuff - why when Maggie gets scanned in the opening credits the register reads "NRA"...

And Lisa is the plot mover, she's no Smithers

In the Cartridge Family episode, Lisa says something about the 2nd Amendment being an antiquated remnant of a revolutionary era and condemns guns...

Honestly, I did some study on this. (Not scientific but study) and determined by taping a number of episodes and playing the opening sequence back one frame at a time that this was a lie. It says that in the 138th episode spectacular when they are having their clip show, but it seems to me they set that particular one up as a gimmick. The ones I tried (Probably a dozen episodes or so from both before and after that clip show) The reading when maggie is scanned is just gibberish that never fully becomes clear.

I didn't catch the show, but it sounds like from your description...

The populace triumphed over an 'out of control' Army.
It sounds like a win for the folks at the expense of yet another shot at the savage military.

I'm not debating Lisa's politics, I'm saying she's a plot mover who says whatever the show wants to say - whether it be sarcasm, mocking or accurate commentary

Only in one episode. Just like the clalkboard and couch gags, what the register says when Maggie is scanned is different every time.

Maggie actually rings up as $847.63 on there day to day shows.

The NRA bit came up during a Simpsons Special.

I couldn't care less if the Simpsons is pro or anti 2A. IMNSHO, the show while funny at times is a sad commentary on the rapidly declining intelligence of our nation as a whole.

Now Family Guy on the other hand, there's a show.

I take issue with that. [angry]

Whether or not it is an actual quote it is absolutely true.

Get a grip. If it is NOT a quote - and it isn't - then declaring it to be one is FALSE. Period.

Don't disrespect the People that are out there on the front lines.

Again, get a grip. There is no disrespect stated, intended or implied. That freedom isn't free is not disputed; that it exists solely because it is defended is not in dispute. That George Orwell (Eric Blair) ever said the quote attributed to his IS. Grasp the distinction.

That really effin pisses me off.

Your anger is due wholly to your inability to understand the issue. See above.
