Many non firearm owners already view us as gun crazy, anti-govt., neo nazi individuals and white supremacist.
When we dress as such, it only confirms their thinking.
The people that haven't made up their minds about us are the ones that we do not want to complete a bad picture of ourselves for.
We need all the support we can muster.
We don't need to alienate those that may be sitting on the fence and may someday come to our point of view.
My opinion is to dress in your normal civilian cloths.
Leave the military type uniform articles of clothing and any visible firearms at home.
You can be armed to the teeth and no one would be the wiser.
They already know we have firearms.
Leave the grade school show and tell stuff in your safe.
You in fact will garner more support as people view us as we are, just a common person, a neighbor or a person that resembles someone they know rather than some guy covered in a military camo type uniform.
The military is expected to have casualties in a conflict. Civilian deaths are viewed as a much more personal subject to the general public.
It should always appear as it is, with govt. troops in uniforms on one side and the civilian population on the other.
With a clear distinction of who is who.
Which news headline sounds better?
Govt. forces fire on their own civilians or govt. forces fire on anti-govt. militia members.
The Boston massacre had a decisive effect on the colonist convincing many to join the fight for freedom!
Perception is everything.
No one likes to hear of civilians being innocently fired upon.
Now a military type clash does not invoke those same feelings of govt. oppression.
We are civilians that our right of self protection is being stripped away by tyrants in our govt. through imprisonment or the threat of deadly force!
What we are doing should never have the appearance of a military coup.
!!
Military troops are trained to kill the enemy of which most wear a military uniform.
They are not trained to slaughter civilians. That order would have a whole different psychological effect on the individual solder.
Now the police are trained to shoot civilians. But only to defend their lives and most of the time the lives of others.
That world famous picture of the guy that stopped in front of the tank in Tiananmen Square stood out as a civilian act of govt. defiance.
Would they have stopped the tank if he was dressed in a military uniform and how would the world have viewed that instead?
Hint...It would have never made the news!
