While many Mass Killers were on anti-depressants, very, very, very, very few people on anti-depressants are Mass Killers. They’re just one ingredient in the mix.

It’s much easier to push some pills on someone with mental challenges than treat them otherwise and Big Pharma has a much bigger lobby than do shrinks, so pills it is for everyone. Not that shrinks did much good…

And there you have it.
Shrinks are useless to those severely afflicted. Pills may help for a while but it seems to be a medication carousel.
Depression and mental illness are real and debilitating.
Treating those conditions seem to range from ineffective to actually harmful.
