I'm headed to the Finger Lakes for the fourth week, so I went online to buy my NY license--$70 for a season out of state license! Are they trying to drive fishermen to Vermont and other competing states?

All the NE NonRes licenses are nuts. They would sell a lot more worms if it was cheaper.

Vermont's not a whole lot better. I've been paying $30/ea for my wife and I for a seven day license when we go on vacation in summer at an obscure lake in the NEK. Never seen a DFW truck, boat, or person.. Matter of fact, I think I've only ever seen two or three humans that weren't with us on the lake.

A season out of state license in VT is only $45; curiously it's even cheaper in MA. I get stopped by some form of VT cops almost daily on Lake Champlain, though I've hardly ever seen NY ones on that shared body of water.

VT is expensive as well, and so is NH.

I think the big difference is in NH you're not getting taxed to death and then hit with the permit fee.

MH non-resident fishing license is $53/year, which is ridiculous.
