After watching and listening to testimony here in Connecticut and speaking with a shooter who spoke to his legislator personally, I realized that many legislators have little or no knowledge of firearms and sadly are forced to rely on people with political agendas, such as anti-gun politicians or police chiefs, to inform them.

Offer to take your legislator to the range. Offer to answer technical questions and answer them honestly. Do your best to educate your legislator about firearms.

Don't make it about politics, treat like you would if you were taking an interested friend or co-worker to the range for the first time.

That might scary them. They might think you will hurt or kill them. I don't think many if any legislators will take someone up on that offer above, but it doesn't hurt to try.

Not only legislators, but friends, neighbors and co-workers, too. And their kids, and the kids' friends.

More shooters = more political power. More people that have shot, and see it as a non-evil activity = less support for nutjobs that vote against guns.

Have offered. No takers. IMHO, this isn't really about firearms at all. If it was, more of them would try to educate themselves on the subject.
It's about control. The 2nd is the low hanging fruit on the tree of the constitution. Once the people are conditioned to losing rights "for their own good" the rest will follow.
