A rifle issued as an M-14A1 with the receiver marked "M-15". I shit you not. Issued to a guy in A 2/327 Inf prior to our deployment to the JRTC at Ft Chaffee AR in 1988. They called me over to see it as they had never heard of it and knew I was a gun guy. I don't recall if it had a heavier barrel or not...at the time our snipers were at the company level, 2 per. for JRTC they left their M-21's behind and were issued M-14A1's that were in the foil wrappers to use for the deployment.
