Looks like M.47C identifies it as one of 81,000 guns produced at the BSA Shirley facility. S/N is hard to make out, but appears to be 5 digits, starting with 15.

Really nice gift, these are rare a little bit? If I were to commence collecting military arms, I'd start with the SMLE rifles. Don't know why but they've always interested me.

A little bit. I bought mine back in 1999 assuming the prices would have skyrocketed by now. They have gone up, but not as much as I thought.

Not that I'll ever sell my '47 Faz. My favorite rifle, by far. Great gift for the Colonel!

There is a very good reason why one should start with the Enfield but I am very biased.

Dad and I put a box of ammo downrange today. Functioned perfectly. Good accuracy at 50 yds. Shoulders are sore!
