Sig trigger compared to my M&P... after a while.

My Sigs are all stock. My M&Ps had mild trigger work which shortened reset. I've been shooting my M&Ps quite a bit lately. Noticing that my Sigs have been getting jealous, I took out my P220 and P228 to dry fire a bit. WOW. How the hell can I possibly get used to the reset on the Sigs now??? What a difference. It feels like a mile now. I'm sure I'll be short triggering the Sigs if I use them again in matches. You guys ever run into this with your guns?

Why would you do that? A factory short trigger will -not- change
the reset on a P series sig. All it changes is the thickness of
the trigger part itself. Now, you could send your guns to Bruce
Gray and have him shorten the reset, but the cost and wait is
considerable.

I do know the effect your talking about though.... if you are
someone who is good enough to fully "game the reset" of a
pistol, everything else will seem like a mile long reset compared
to a P99/SW99, Glock, or well tuned M+P. All three of those
guns reset in a very short distance. The M+P is a bit long stock
but if its modified it can be very short.

Mike- I don't know if I used the wrong term- but when I was referring to "short triggering" I wasn't talking about adding a short trigger... I was referring to the act of not releasing the trigger enough to reset the trigger... hence "no fire" when pulling the trigger the 2nd time. I've done this before with my P229.

Oh, ok, I get it now. (you said you were short stroking the
trigger... ) Normally "short trigger" describes a replacement
trigger part for small handed shooters. Of course, this now gets
confusing because Sig has the new "SRT" "short reset trigger" in
some of their newer handguns. Basically Sig adapted Bruce Gray's
work for use commercially and is now trying to sell them from the
factory that way. Too bad we probably won't see any of the nice
new P series in MA. [frown]

Could we buy the parts and put them in the MA legal guns?

The only way I can see this happening is if Sig does frame
commonality between the MA and non MA guns.... and if they
do that, then the guns will probably be "SRT enabled" from
the factory and MA compliant anyways. It's not like the DAK
where the first pull is reduced below 10 lbs, so SRT wouldn't
introduce an AG reg problem, just a matter of getting the new
models approved, plus the Ma**h*** barrel. Not sure if sig
plans on releasing any of the newer guns in MA compliant
versions.

You can send your pistol to sig to have the SRT work done. I spoke with them over the summer when they were running a special. The customer service woman said it was not a "mass compliant" issue since it does not change the pull weight.
I plan on getting it done in a month or two... I will let you know how it works out.
