sorry to hear about your cousin...thats a messed up situation. Hope he recovers fully.....so now I am wondering in this "great" state of ours what will happen to your cousin for defending himself? that has me curious
 
I live just up the road from where the incident occurred. In fact, I coached MM in youth hockey years ago. From all accounts he slid off the bench, so to speak, a long time ago. Guns and bootleg amphetamines are an incident waiting to happen, that's for sure. Hope your cousin pulls through okay Maninblue. - JR
 
Just read the update in the Salem News this morning. As stated above, guns and crystal methamphetamine isn't exactly the best combination. It doesn't really make sense, both of the guys involved were doing lines of meth together on Friday and by Sunday they were shooting each other. It doesn't say anything about either person having a LTC but the OP said that his cousin involved had a LTC. Hope your cousin makes it okay and learns from this incident.

The shooting took place in Middleton but the Salem Newspaper covers Middleton news. I think Salem is already red based on stories I hear about the restrictions they put on LTCs. I think I was told that they only give unrestricted LTCs to people who are business owners or people who carry large amounts of cash. I believe Middleton is green as far as I know.

Middleton man pleads not guilty in shooting 08/21/2013 3:00 AM
BURLINGTON — A 24-year-old Middleton man has pleaded not guilty to assault and firearms charges related to a weekend shooting in which he also was injured.

The Essex District Attorney’s office said Michael MacMullen was arraigned Tuesday in his hospital bed at the Lahey Medical Center in Burlington.

Prosecutors said MacMullen shot and wounded 28-year-old Kevin Wolff twice in the torso after an argument early Sunday. They said MacMullen was hit in the arm when Wolff shot back. Both were identified as Red Devil motorcycle club members.

Police said the shooting happened outside MacMullen’s Middleton home, and he was arrested nearby.

Judge Robert Brennan set $10,000 bail and ordered MacMullen to stay at his parents’ home under GPS monitoring if he is released. He was ordered to avoid Wolff and any other motorcycle club members.
 
I don't know if this will hurt LTC issuance in Middleton, but it does seem to undercut that whole "The local PD knows the people who live in town and are the best judges of 'suitability'" argument.

I don't know either of the parties, but it seems that people on this forum who knew them knew that they were into some sketchy stuff.
 
I live a couple of streets down and didn't here anything. My wifes friend lives on Mill St ans said at about 11 pm she heard alot of gunshots. Sound like they were target shooting. My wife and sister in law knew Mikes ex wife from Masco. They said of them are dirt bags. So it looks like one dirt bag shot another dirt bag. NBD
 
I just hope (assuming both people involved had LTCs, at least one of them did according to the OP) that it doesn't effect responsible gun owners in Middleton or elsewhere in the state and give us a bad name or make the town "red" as stated previously.

What's up with these alleged biker gangs? One of my best friend's uncle got arrested months ago for supposedly being the leader of the Red Devils and was involved in smashing a guys hand with a ball peen hammer at their club in Byfield. It's so ridiculous reading about these "gangs", sounds like a bunch of immature guys who watch TV and movies and think if they throw on leather jackets with their "gang patch" that their all badass all of the sudden. They don't even seem to fight with other gangs, they just beat up and threaten former members of their gangs, so stupid. No offense to people who drive motorcycles and wear leather jackets, I'm talking about these guys beating up, stabbing, shooting etc. people for no good reason.
 
Red Devils are a Hells Angel support club. Scumbags all around. Don't think these fellas will be deemed "suitable". No sympathy here, neither one was a "victim".

Yeah that's what I've heard about the Red Devils also. Yeah they really are scumbags. I agree, I have no sympathy for drug addicts and biker gangs either.
