Scoped rifles for NRA and CMP Across the Course Highpower Rifle is here to stay.

A few shooters from the PA area put this document together in hopes of boiling down all the info out there on suitable scopes and mounts for the Service Rifle. It will help reduce the research time if you are going from "Old School" to new.

Might be a good deal on a scope.
Botach has the Steiner Optics USA P4Xi 1-4x scope with 5.56/223 BDC illuminated reticle for $413 shipped when you add it to your cart (makes it like $465ish) then use the rebate below

That's a good price, but nobody in this sport uses the Steiner (maybe 1 or 2 out there) for a few good reasons:
Tracking issues: Steiner themselves market that unit as a Patrol, "set it and forget it" type scope. We constantly whip a scope through 30 clicks of elevation (60 with 1/4 min adjustments) just to get to the various yard lines, so it must track correctly every time.
1.44 MOA dot is too big.
1/2" adjustments work, but 1/4" is preferred.
