I Just picked up a new stainless PPK/S in .380 ACP. The gun is a real work of art, nice piece however, seems like S&W had to get their 2 cents in and hacked into the right side of the slide the following:
SMITH & WESSON
HOULTON, ME USA
Jeez, looks like they burnt it in with a laser, should have just scratched it in with a rusty nail. So the new label stands proud of the surface, catches on the holster, feels like sand paper. Thinking of trying to polish it flush.
Anyone else see this sort of thing? Any recommendations on how to fix it without screwing up the nice finish? Dont want to send it back and be without my carry gun. I do have some machine shop access, scotchbrite wheel on a grinder???
Thanks in advance,
Joe
