Just picked up an M&P and was wondering if anyone knew how to identify the date of manufacture? The serial number starts with MPT. Thanks.

Ask them there, that's the best resource for M&Ps online.

Of course, I could tell you with reasonable certainty that it was made somewhere between 2002 and 2008.

In the m@p full size section there is a sticky on s.n. break down, I say its around 06-07.
