S&W 1911 officers model?

A buddy of mine told me today that S&W is going to offer an officers model. Has anyone heard this? It seems to make sense since they have a ton of 1911's to choose from. Just wondering, and getting the checkbook ready. A scandium officers would be a nice addition to the 1911 collection.

Officers = shorter barrels?

I think there are a few such models already

The commander has a shorter barrel but the same length grip. The officers model has a shorter grip as well.

What I'd really like is if they came out with a copy of the Colt CCO, which is a commander slide on an officers frame. I find the limiting factor on concealment is the printing of the butt of the grip. Barrel length doesn't seem to matter so much.

A buddy of mine who works for S&W told me a couple months ago that they were "in development" of a 3" barrel, short grip 1911. So yeah maybe.

....and they probably won't get it approved in Mass. Whatayawanna bet?
