Russian Fleet 35 Miles Off Hawaii Practices Sinking An Aircraft Carrier

just to add to the score, that aircraft carrier basically killed off half a dozen of its own planes through various mishaps and accidents.

It's an old Soviet ship, way past it's service life, even if all the planned maintenance was actually done.

just a clarification, the ship in this picture is NOT on fire, it's just the ships engines aren't very ecologically friendly.
They go through the effort of building this and it wasn't a nuclear powered ship? Or is this the one they bought off the Chicoms and fitted it themselves?
I wonder how clear the satellite images actually are, they must degrade them for press release.

Soviet Union built those. The navy doctrine was to build more smaller decentralized low tech ships over one super fag carrier.

That ship was built in Ukraine, but now that Russia pissed all its neighbors by annexing land and killing people, good luck servicing that floating disaster. Same story with missiles, all rocket engines were built in Ukraine during the Soviet times, now all that equipment is a liability more than a weapon.

I was watching a video, Turkey is building a canal to get to the Black sea so they can circumvent a treaty signed 100 years ago that doesn't allow warships through the current canal.

Russia is pissed.
The U.S supports it.

Will be interesting if they finish it.
A big if on that. They are doing it to bypass that treaty and make a toll canal. They'd have to intentionally slow the original way which is going to piss off a shit load of people

The Chinese are the one who bought one of these that was never fitted. Not sure why they didn't use nuclear, they have enough expertise to do it.

Turkey pissing off people, lol. They were balls deep in Kharabakh war, now just recently they are sponsoring Ukraine into NATO. That f***ing drives Vlad nuts.

Chinese bought a bunch of x-soviet ships, basically turning them into floating whorehouses and entertainment centers.

What experience with nucular shit you are talking about, like blowing shit up and dumping radioactive crap all over the world? There were half a dozen bigger than Chernobyl disasters that no one knows about. Spent fuel facilities ... how about just dumping them into the ocean, been done before.

I didn't say anything about running them [rofl]

The Soviet Submarine force had a shit ton of reactor whoopsie daisies

Every country is guilty of dumping shit. Look at Mass bay, there are sections that daggers can't work because of barrels of spent waste. I was friends with a guy who worked on a dragged in the 70s and they brought up a barrel of God knows what but he said everyone got sick and he died of some weird cancer.

There are five US ships "escorting" the Russian ships as they go on their Hawaiian cruise. Those are the surface ships, I expect there are a couple of US submarines keeping an eye on things as well.

Giant helium balloons in 3...2...1...

At least you hope that's not a nuclear powered ship. [shocked]
Hell yeah. The U.S had 3 or 4 flying aircraft carriers. At one point they ran out of Helium.

Meh - not real news and not a real threat. We're the only country that has proven capability of sinking our carriers, and the ones we sink are outdated by our standards, but light years ahead of other countries.

Russia never really got the idea of what a carrier was for anyway, their major air threat to our ships was land based bombers.

tell that to the dutch navy, they got US naval officers fired for popping up next to a good ol carrier undetected

Back in the 70s my oldest brother was on a fast attack boat( The USS Cavalla iirc) and he had pictures of them in the middle of the soviet fleet in the Med. He joked that someone ended up in a gulag for that.

Worlds biggest “meh.”

a) The Russian Navy couldn’t threaten a USN paddleboard effectively
b) 35 miles is outside the 12 mile territorial waters limit.

We routinely pop up in the bays on the Russian Arctic Ocean coastline, within what they call “historically territorial waters” and we call “high seas, bitches!” so why shouldn’t they show up off Hawaii?

The Russian navy is such a joke, they don’t even build their own ships. They had a contract with France to build ships but it was canceled after the Russian proxies blew up that commercial plane over eastern Ukraine in 2015.

It's Hawaii. It's already socialist. We could just let them have it. But they have to take Barack back if they take the island...
p.s.- It would make it harder for people to find pineapple to put on their pizzas, too.

We should really do a cost/benefit analysis on the non-continental states and territories. Cut our losses. Put them up for auction.

I have 2 pineapple plants growing so I'm good. Also most pineapple comes from central America

Who builds their nuclear subs ???
With their track record of breakdowns and catastrophic failures you'd think they were made in China.
