Ruger .22 Caliber

Ruger 10/22 w/ Fajen Thumbhole stock, Lothar Walther 1" s/s matchgrade bbl, Bushnell 4-12x40

She's been built by a German custom gunsmith, who's unfortunately out of business for some years now.
I bought her used from the 1st owner, who put a very few rounds through.
I bought her as "the daughter's" rifle, but fortunately the stock is still
a bit long for her[smile]
And yes, she's a tack driver.
10 rounds, sitting, supported at 50 meters end up as one hole, as long as
the "software behind the buttstock" gets his act together.
The ammo she loves most out of the various I tried is the old Federal no. 711 "Gold Medal Target".

Mine screamed for modifications but nothing permanent. [smile]

Beautiful, but how much of the original is left? I'll bet this sucker drives
tacks as well as JuergenG's rifle.

Not much. The receiver, bolt group and trigger housing.

The whole time I was piecing and throwing it together I was thinking "WTF am I doing spending $350.00 on a $150.00 rifle?" (I did go cheapo on the scope, rings and base though [wink] ).

I like screwing around with things (usually with things I shouldn't be screwing around with, or things better left to professionals [smile] ).

Overall, the Volquartsen trigger group is the number 1 improvement. Second, as much as I like the look and feel of wood stocked rifles, the Houge stock is one of the most comfortable I've ever handled (it's inletted so the barrel is free floating).

In the end, it was well worth it. It is a charm to shoot

Tom, did you have that beast out at Wrentham a month or two ago at the .22 shoot one Sunday? That looks a lot like one of the rifles that was there. I was the guy with the iron-sighted 10-22 who was there buying Keith's M1.
