Rhode Island bans "ghost guns"

Interestingly there is this part in the new bill (attention to highlighted part):

IANAL, but hasn't the GCA68 been interpreted that ONLY licensed dealers need serial numbers?

It would seem that if you are making any firearm - outside of one that is 3D printed - even if it is unserialized and for your use, you should be okay

ETA - similar thoughts just ahead of me typing this

Good catch.

Ghosts are invisible. So if it's truly a ghost gun how can they charge you with possession of one when it can't be seen! ;) [smile]

"The weapons targeted in the ban include guns that can evade metal detectors, she said. "

32 years after Die Hard, and people still think there are guns out there that will get through a metal detector. lol. Just goes to show you how ignorant most law makers are about guns. They also think people will be having silent gunfights with suppressors because their knowledge base is Hollywood.

I get it. 3D printing....ooohhhh...the scary unknown! But even if you 3D print a gun out of thermoplastic, you still need a metal firing pin. Still need metal cased rounds. Probably need a few metal screws and springs too in some of the more complex designs. The 3D printed part has nothing to do with stealth, and they'll almost always set of metal detectors if loaded.
