With the sale of six Mausers and my M17 revolver, I have reconstituted my American collection I was forced to sell off last summer to pay off medical bills. The only caveat is that in most cases I replaced collector grade pieces with shooter grade pieces.

Already acquired were a Rock-Ola M1 carbine, a Smith-Corona M03A3, and a Savage made Enfield No. 4 Mk. 1*. Supposedly arriving tonight via the Brown Truck will be a RIA rebuild January 1918 M17 Eddystone. Arriving next week will be an 1899 M98 Krag Jorgensen; it's not in the best shape but it has a 1943 dated web sling on it that will look nice on my Smith-Corona. Various accessories are also en-route: 1920 M17 Remington bayonet and scabbard, 1899 Krag Bayonet and scabbard, original Krag sling, original Krag oiler, original Krag cleaning rod, and a repro Krag muzzle cover. Waiting here are an original nickel oiler, original 1944 muzzle cover, and an old, cheap M17 sling that was on my first M17. I let the nice one go when I sold my other Eddystone this summer. This one looks and feels like vinyl; I'll get a nicer one someday.

I also got a Danish M1 Garand cleaning kit for my Winchester.

Pics while waiting.

Stock has been lightly sanded, but not varnished. RIA cartouche is faded, but visible. Without taking it apart, all parts are Eddystone save the stock and barrel. Faded parkerized finish. Bore is excellent. Looks like the solider was a klutz and dropped it a few times as the crown has several nicks, but seems otherwise undamaged. Excellent WW2 refurbed example. Probably served with a prison guard with the carry wear on the barrel.

Looks pretty nice- not too far off of your old one, excepting the dings on the muzzle, and those don't appear to be close to the bore.

Looking forward to the range report.

Stripped and cleaned the Eddystone. Bolt was full of grease/cosmoline. Magazine box and trigger guard are Remington. Floor plate, both bands, and both handguards are unmarked.

Passed the field gauge test, so we're off to the range at some point. Of course it fell into the trash when ejected and took 10 minutes to find.

A break in the cold coming; 33 on W and 37 on TH. Then the cold comes back.

1920 Remington M17 bayonet came today. Illegible stampings on scabbard. Last bayonet I need is the long version of the M05 Springfield.

Anyone have a source for a good WW2 leather/steel M07 sling? It's been a few years, and I've haven't found a decent one that doesn't break the bank.
