The real end-game of allowing states to enforce sales tax on mail-order vendors?
Even without that, given how it is "sales and use tax", they'll just go after the out-of-state sourcing with tax evasion charges.
CT already does this, and went after people recently who failed to report out of state purchases. MA also requests this on tax returns, but allows a safe harbor election for purchases individually under $1k.
