Private Sale Question for 2024

Hi all,
I just want to make sure nothing has changed with the private sales of firearms in Massachusetts. I plan to sell 2 guns to a friend who also has an LTC. If I am selling 2 at a time (handgun and shotgun), can we do it privately through the online portal, or do we need to find an FFL? I have read through previous posts, but want to make sure I am up-to-date with current laws since some of the posts I have read were a bit older. Thank you.

You can do either, using the state transfer portal or at an FFL.

I keep hearing this, always felt it was rumors etc. Where can I find this rule/policy etc. I wonder what the fine or punishment would be.

It's mass. They probably go after tax money more than anything

The website allows you to “register” AKs and AR15s too.

Documented evidence that you broke the law, if they ever choose to investigate/prosecute. I’m not “in the know” but I’m aware of one case where someone received a letter from the state and then were investigated by the ATF for selling without an FFL.
