I'm not sure if this should go in the CT law section, but its the only CT specific section on the forum.

I'd like to use this thread as a place where members can post links to pre-ban AR rifles or receivers.

Remember folks, you are not out of luck if you didn't buy before the ban. You can buy and own a pre-ban gun. Its perfectly legal. It just costs more.

I'll start it out here:

This first one is a PWA for $800. Sell the upper for $275 and you are into a lower for about $400 more than normal. Not too bad if it lets you build/buy something that you couldn't otherwise own.

This rifle is marked "AR15" on the receiver. So it is in the named list. So even though it is pre-ban, it is an AW per CT law.

the third auction is for an ar15, i believe this is one of the two banned colt ar15s.

Good catch.

The DESPP has given an opinion that any AR15 that has any suffix after the "AR15" is not banned by name.

The title for the auction was AR15 SP1. So INCORRECTLY assumed that the receiver reflected this.

After CT patriot's comment, I checked the auction and the receiver is stamped ONLY AR15.

So CT Patriot is correct. The third auction would not be legal.

I'll edit my post to reflect this as example of a prohibited pre-ban.

Thanks for the correction.

Yes.

The law has specific carve outs to allow manufacturing and possession by 01 and 07 FFLs.

Its interesting. Colt's not long for this world, and Stag appears to be the victim of a vindictive ATF inspection / treasure hunt.

Those are the only two major companies that make ARs in CT.

Sturm Ruger is based in Southport CT, but they don't manufacture in CT anymore.

Actually, I just remembered, Mossberg in North Haven is now making an AR called the MMR.
