I'm having a serious brain cramp. Can an unlicensed individual possess, in their residence only, a shotgun, without an FID card?

No, he/she MUST be licensed.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I was told otherwise by someone who's usually right, and I was second guessing myself.

Probably another of the great hoard who seem to have slept through all the legal changes over the past 8 years.

Ever since I started shooting in 1976 (and I'm told a lot longer than that), ANY gun in a residence required at least an FID card. Back before the debacle in 1998, you could keep a handgun in your home on an FID card, but you couldn't transport it anywhere without a LTC. Now mere possesion of a hi-cap rifle/shotgun or any handgun (hi-cap LTC-A, low cap LTC-B or A)requires LTC.
