Police acknowledge increase in Portland crime

On Friday afternoon, a 35-year-old Cumberland woman reportedly was robbed as she left Shalom House on Gilman Street. The alleged victim told police a man approached her as she walked to her car and repeatedly threatened her with a knife until she eventually entered her car, retrieved a handgun and pointed it at him.

Well at least in Maine you don't have quite the same number of anti-gun cops and prosecuting attorneys that would love to throw someone in jail for defending their lives.

In Mass she would have been charged because she could have left when she got in her car instead of grabbing a gun.
