Hello... I recently got my hands on my family Marlin Golden 39A. I was told it was my Great Grandfathers and has been passed down a few times. I would like to know how old it is but I don't know where to find such information. The serial number is 388134. It is a lever action .22. I cleaned it up and shot it today for the first time in decades! Worked beautifully. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much,

Chris

there should be a letter in font of the number. The letter indicates the year.

Mine has an N and was made in 1954. O is 1955, P is 1956 and the same going backwards, one letter for each year.

I think just around the War, the letters were not there, so if you have no letter it may be one of that period. I'll try and find where the serial numbers are listed on line for you.

ETA: thanks Kevlar you beat me to it.

hey guys, thanks very much. There is no letter before the serial number. I entered the number into the box but it just clears the box when I hit submit. It looks like my number of 388124 might be to high. Any other suggestions? Thanks for the help!
