Omfg!

When I turned in my "collection plan" to obtain the collector's permit
the official asked me about that rifle.
Q: Mauser Tankgewehr ? Is that a short one to be taken into a tank ?
A: No, it's a long one used to shoot holes into a tank[smile]

Actually, the 13mm Mauser round was the thought food for ole John Moses
Browning when designing the .50 cal BMG

Juergen,

What what his reply? [grin]

Does anyone know what the holes in the side of the bolt are for? Venting gas during case failure?

His reply was a smile, followed by another question "And you really want to
collect this, too ? Are there any around ?".
Answer: Yes, mostly in the U.S. and they are well over 15k which is the
only reason for me likely never getting one[frown]

ETA: "Yes" to your last question, IMHO.

Mauser 1918 Tgewehr

That Tgewehr belongs to a friend of mine. Here is a better photo to better see how dainty it is[smile] The $40 a shot would only apply if you didn't reload that 13.2 x 92 R brass. Its an 825 gr spitzer ahead of 200grs of 50BMG powder. Now where is that Wascally Wabbit...
