Greetings All,

Two seats just opened up in the Instructor Training that is described below from my October 16 announcement of this class.

PM me with any questions and we can chat by phone if you like.

The dates have been selected by the registered students for the class to be Jan 30 and Feb 1, followed by Feb 21 and 22. A required Pre-Course evaluation (this means come and shoot!) is scheduled for Jan 3.

One of my responsibilities is to train Certified Instructors and Range Safety Officers for Boy Scout programs.

I have been asked to run a specific training program to gear up a local camp for a revitalized Shooting Sports program.

The Course will provide Instructor Certification in the following ratings:

NRA Basic Rifle
NRA Basic Shotgun
NRA Basic Pistol
Home Firearms Safety
Range Safety Officer

This will require a time committment of 4 days which will be done over 2 weekends. Dates to be determined. As a package for these volunteers I will offer this for $450 all inclusive.

I am opening this opportunity to NES members if any of you would be interested.

I would respectfully request that since I know very few of you personally that you submit your interest to me by PM with a brief explanation of why you wish to be an instructor, what your shooting experience consists of, what you plan to do with the Certification and anything else you may feel will help me to welcome you as a candidate for this class.

To get certification, one "has to give a good reason" ?

Hi Uzi, Thanks for the question.

The question is in keeping with the NRA Instructor Training program which specifies the following requirements for Instructors: (quoted from NRA website)

"Your responsibilities as an NRA Certified Instructor will include:

-Conducting NRA Basic Courses in accordance with policies and procedures outlined by NRA
-Upholding the quality and integrity of national firearm safety and training standards established by NRA
-Promoting firearm safety and the shooting sports
-Reporting training data to NRA
Knowing how to shoot is an important requirement for NRA instructors, but you will also need to know how to teach others to shoot. NRA Instructor Training Courses help you develop the additional knowledge, skills and techniques needed to organize and teach courses in the NRA Basic Firearm Training Program."

As a Training Counselor, part of the responsibility is assuring that those who we train as Instructors are effective Ambassadors for the Shooting Community as well as effective teachers of shooting skills.

So, to answer your specific question, one does not need to give a specific reason. This question simply serves to assist in fulfilling the responsibilities inherent in being an effective Training Counselor.

I hope this helps.
