The Massachusetts NRA Youth Hunter Education Challenge will be held at the club November 5th. The event is open to young hunters or future hunters 18 or younger that have completed the Basic Hunter Education Course. Juniors 14 and under can attend but must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or a coach approved by same. Parents etc. are welcome to accompany senior participants coaching and or moral support. The call of range supervisors and RSO’s are final and any appeals will be done respectfully.

Events will be designed to educate and develop further the basic skills taught in the Basic Course while being an enjoyable experience. Participants will only be competing with themselves to improve their hunting skills. No trophies but each participant will receive a ticket upon signing in which will in honor of the season enter them in a drawing for thanksgiving turkeys as will volunteers.

There will be live fire challenges to include bolt action 22 LR rifles and archery. Possibly modern muzzle loader and knife and hawk. Safety rules will be strictly enforced on all ranges. Safety violations could result in participants being asked to leave.

Knowledge based challenges will include Tree stand safety which will be mandatory. Other than tree stand safety participants will be allowed to choose their activities but they must participate in at least one firing challenge and one knowledge based.

The event will be limited to 50 participants. Preregistration is required. POC [email protected]

A fee of $15.00 will be charged to cover ammunition and other club expenses.

Sign in and safety briefing will be 07:00 AM to 08:00 AM on November 5th parents must be present to sign appropriate waivers.

It is this coming Sunday. Surely someone on here has a kid or two that would be interested.

The youth are supposed to be the future.
 
Great time today. What a great bunch of kids, parents, grandparents, and instructors. So much fun bringing another 10-15 young people onto our side.
