New guide rod and spring installed

I can't wait to try it out. I bought a Dons Guide Rods "clone" rod and spring for my XD 45.
The new rod is solid instead of the factory hollow rod, the spring is a stock replacement 18.5#.
Also got 3 more 13 rd. magazines, this is like Christmas in April

is the rod a weak link in those guns?

Haven't heard of any failures. The solid rod helps reduce recoil and muzzle flip.
My reason was to lessen the recoil for my wife( IMO it wasn't bad stock). She is interested in learning to shoot but was a little worried about recoil and I didn't want her to feel unsafe or uncomfortable firing the XD 45. I also don't want her dropping it

ahh gotcha. just that the plastic one in the glock seems like an odd design to me, and if a hollow metal one is bad...then the plastic would really have me worried.
