Mr. FedEx just dropped her off. Don't have time for more than this quick pic and now have to get to work!

She's in the 553xxxx range, so that's late. Don't know if she was in WWII yet. And they only let me know on Wed that I would be receiving one; and with all the "oh no sold out" posts I was beginning to wonder!

Have a great holiday weekend,
Chuck

Outstanding! Great way to start the Memorial Day weekend. Think of the history you'll hold in your hands as we remember the fallen.

I'm not much into mil surplus...what is that one?

Yes she is, from the CMP.

I know how I feel when I hold my '42 Garand, once I know the year, and guess the battles, fought by the Carbine, I might feel the same way about her!

You guys are killing me [sad], Nothing in the estore and my 21 day email is already 17 days old. I'm pulling my hair out over here.
To get back on topic, looks like a beauty chuck, good luck with her.

Serial Number table

Found this in a CMP forum.

6-999,999 5/42-9/43
2,912,520-3,212,519 11/43-1/44
4,879,526-5,549,820 1/44-8/44
6,219,689-6,449,867 8/44-11/44
6,629,884-6,664,883 11/44-1/45
6,664,884-7,234,883 1/45-8/45
7,369,661-8,069,660 1/45-8/45

That puts the carbine as being made around the middle of '44. Same time as my Russian capture Mauser 98.

Congrats Chuck, looks nice. [smile] Mine came this morning, sorry, no pics.

Serial number of 300xxxx and an Inland barrel dated 11/43 seems correct according to the list you found on a CMP forum. It has a FAT marked stock, original metal finish, flat bolt and the bore looks pretty good. I can't wait to fire a few round through it but it does need a fair amount of cleaning.

Just a thought, does anyone else think it would be interesting for a group of us CMP Carbine buyers to meet at some club to see what each other got and maybe even have some kind of shoot. If some knowlegeable people came, those of us new to the carbine might even learn a few things.

Speaking of learning, any recommendations on whose book to buy to learn about my new/old carbine?
