This was after some advice of a fellow NESr on how to make it look better. Hard to see cause its a poor quality shot but I polished the bolt and it functions 100% smoother now.
The stock looks much better with some finish on it.

Yup, sporting that Commie red look. Got a before pic? My WASR wood was pretty plain, just oiled by looks of it.
 
Nope, no before shot, at least none that show what the stock really looked like. Even that picture was a quickie to get rid of some old film.
I think it was JonJ that gave me the refinish tip, Red Sedona stain. I followed it up with many coats of spray poly with some 600 grit sanding in between the last 2. The bolt was done with rust/blue remover, then buffing with an angle die grinder and 3 inch 3M rust removal discs. On high speed they polish metal to a mirror finish.
Sure beats the original look of poorly machined blued metal and the stock's original finish which was nothing more than, well... looked like dirt. [laugh]
 
Cool. The Sedona Red was the closest I could find locally.
