So I have gotten into foraging lately and came across these puffballs today. Cooked them up and we’re delicious. Now I am waiting to see if I will die

I think puff balls taste like whatever they are cooked with. I must say I do like them with salt garlic and butterPuffballs and boletes. I thought the Boletes may be Slippery Jacks, but they don't have a thin veil on the stem. They may be Kings but the cap seemed a bit light. But the thick stalk does match, as does the stem color. And the taste of them sautéed is incredible.
The puffball tastes okay, not nearly as good as the smooth skinned ones. Still not bad. View attachment 762419
Looks like them. The stock by the way is delish
Similar to 2021 with the higher than average rainfall, this year is the same and while I have a freezer full of choice edibles I haven’t had time to get out there to collect some. I may give the forest a rest. One short walk in my ghillie suit last week due to a crazy amount of skeeters and deer flies I found painted suillus, black trumpets, king boletes, etc. Happy foraging!Biggest COW I have ever seen. Chantrelles also. Shrooms are everywhere with this weather
Next to red maple and tulip poplar. It’s a bit past prime but still looks edible.
