Movie: Book of Eli vs. SHTF

[laugh]

while the ending was ghay, i think the movie raised some interesting points. as in weaponry, having a cool pair of shades, and just "sticking to your guns" [rofl]

up for discussion:

1. go bag
2. go guns
3. plan of action

i would have put this in the survival section, but i'm NOT an expert, just merely thinking of what i'd do in that situation....

[grin]

I saw it yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Some random thoughts:

- Roasted kitty on a spit
- Using a LARGE edged weapon to conserve ammo
- Throwing away things (wasted food) that people would kill each other for
- Clean water is (almost) everything
- Learning Braille could come in handy some day
- Not much of a bug-out bag
- Better to just avoid people whenever possible
- Flint & steel firestarter vs. zippo lighter
- Small battery, solar charger, iPod
- Yes, an H&K pistol and a stubby pump shotgun
- Eating a meat-exclusive diet can give you the shakes
- The walls of an old house will protect you from large caliber fire if you stay low enough (OK, not so much)
- In the movies, you can cross large tracts of desert with just a WWII canteen of water
- What better use for Alcatraz than to restart civilization?
- The Book is finally back in printed form... and you just put it on the shelf?

I liked the movie, I went and saw it in the theaters.

I am probably not going to make it that far if the S really HTF, so my ideas are not that valuable. [wink]

as previously stated. ending was ghay. but i liked how he had his resources.

cross bow to shoot a perp through the ****

he felt "protected" by the book and therfore, protected the book.

the villains blind wife and daughter were interesting twists to the plot, as was the no. 1 henchmen who let him go early in the movie during the first shoot out scene.

otherwise, i liked the "movie" logical flow of events.

no cash:

scarf's, KFC wet wipes, water, shoes ect... "normal" bartering tools.

so i need to get more cats, and download more music onto my iPhone. [laugh]

i LOVED the old couple with the Arsenal... [tinfoil]

The old couple were pretty awesome, I wish I had an arsenal like that.

so as for the main topic:

1. go bag - has to be light. carry the bare essentials. a couple few mags worth, some extra ammo. a fire source, hygene items, entertainment... funny, i'd just commentated on Gadsden's slide show earlier. i think he did a pretty good job.
2. go guns - for me: glock and AR. i need to reach out and touch people.
3. plan of action - just keep walkin wolf223, keep on walkin! [rofl]

i'd probably add booze to that mix though. [rofl][cheers]

Screw the AR,the post nuclear holocaust looks really dry...AR needs oil,and the carrier key could get unstaked.

All I need is an AK74,HK45,3 bottles of Poland Springs water,a Zippo,3 boxes of Ritz crackers,12 cans of Spam, toilet paper and an internet connection.

I'll be all set.

My wife and I just watched it the other day. At one point she looked at me and said "The scary thing is people would really act this way". I just looked at her and said "that is why we own firearms".
