Mountain Bike BiAthalon

That's an interesting concept and it looks like fun. I had to cringe at some of the behavior as related to safety. Granted, these were pellet guns and technically not firearms, but still....[hmmm] The guy who couldn't get his pistol to fire and then appeared to look down the bore was asking for a nasty surprise. [shocked]

The idea of a mountain bike biathlon using .22s and steel plates would probably be fun to watch!

There was actually a legit Mountain Bike Biathlon in October that was hosted by http://pemi.org/. From what I heard, the set up was similar to a summer biathlon. Guns are racked at the range and get picked up by the athlete as they enter the transition area. If you are interested in doing a Biathlon, Harvard Sportsmen Club, http://www.hapbl.org/, is trying to get events scheduled for the month of Jan.

If you are willing to travel, you can see some World Class athletes at the Ethan Allen range in VT or head up to Fort Kent in ME. They actually had Nationals last year at Fort Kent.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I think biathlon would be much better with downhill skiing and submachine guns. If I ever end up rich enough to rent a remote ski area for the day, I'm running one.

I certainly hope that this event would be open to your fellow NESers.[wink]

[laugh2] Motion seconded ! [laugh]

Kinda gives a new meaning to "Schussbooming".

I'm thinking it will work similarly to an IDPA match, but with falling steel targets. Your score is the time for your run plus penalties for targets left standing. If I ever become rich enough to do such a thing, NES will be the first place to know. [grin]

I did this one years ago. Ended up going over the handlebars once, and when I got to the range my glasses were so fogged I couldn't see the target. I obviously didn't do so well, but it was fun.

A friend of mine did it on a bike that had a bell. She was even slower than me, but she got a few laughs as she rode by and rang her bell.
