Gun Legislation Updates

Patriot's Day Lobby Day

Late Friday night, the Maine Senate passed a number of extreme anti-gun bills. These bills included 72-hour waiting periods on firearm purchases and transfers, redefining semi-automatic firearms as "machine guns," and implementing universal background check laws in Maine. These bills undermine Mainers' constitutional rights and would destroy Maine's robust firearm and hunting tourism industries. Despite these facts, several rural lawmakers voted FOR Michael Bloomberg's gun control bills in Maine. NRA members and gun rights supporters are encouraged to contact these lawmakers NOW and express their concerns regarding these votes.

  • Senate President Troy Jackson (D- Aroostook): (207) 436-0763
  • Senator Tim Nangle (D- Cumberland): (207) 650-4407
  • Senator Chip Curry (D- Waldo): (207) 323-9976
  • Senator Cameron Reny (D-Lincoln): (207) 287-1515
  • Senator Dave LaFountain (D-Kennebec): (207) 873-5995
  • Senator Mike Tipping (D-Penobscot): (207) 287-1515

Join fellow Maine gun owners at the State House for a lobby day on Monday, April 15th (Patriot's Day), for a "Lobby Day" to talk to lawmakers about the dangers of Michael Bloomberg's gun control agenda.

Anti-gun advocates have called the Lewiston tragedy a "golden opportunity" and their last chance to pass their radical gun control demands in Maine. We've beaten Bloomberg before, and we can do it again, but we NEED YOU TO SHOW UP and have your VOICE HEARD.

State House Doors open at 8, they will be in session starting *around* 10, we need you to talk to our legislators and educate them on why these gun bills are bad for Maine. Drop in and stay as long as you can, even if you just make face to face contact with a single legislator that's important. If you can't come in person, please see the above for contact information on specific legislators that need to hear from the gun owning community.

Talking points for waiting periods can be found here.

Talking points for background checks can be found here.
