Maine CWP (Concealed Weapons Permit) Training will begin conducting NRA Certified Firearms courses at Cabela’s in Scarborough. The NRA’s Personal Protection in the Home course gives participants the, “Prerequisite Knowledge, Skills and Attitude,” essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family and to provide information on the law-abiding citizen’s right to self defense.
Cabela’s venue will offer participants superior exposure to readily available products that must become part of their comprehensive personal protection plan. Simple tools such as pepper spray, glow sticks, gun vaults, cleaning kits; to mention a few are all part of personal protection preparedness. Expert information on available handguns will also be offered as well as professional advice that meets each individuals needs.
NRA’s Personal Protection in the Home course is scheduled for December 5th, 2009 and a WOMEN’S ONLY Personal Protection in the Home course is scheduled January 9, 2010 at Cabela’s Scarborough, Maine facility. This course will credential you for your CWP Concealed Weapon’s Permit.
The NRA’s Personal Protection in the Home course includes: Introduction to Defensive Shooting; Basic Defensive Handgun Skills; Strategies for Home Safety and Responding to a Violent Confrontation; Selecting a Handgun for Self Defense; Sport Activity Shooting and Training Opportunity disciplines.
Additionally, Maine CWP Training includes “Firearms and the Law: Possession, Ownership and the Use of Deadly and Non-Deadly Force. This three hour segment is also offered separately. Respected attorney John W. Chapman of Portland delivers this comprehensive, power packed real life delivery on how the law affects you and your decisions, when employing a firearm for self defense.
All required Range exercises are conducted at Western Maine Fish and Game in Harrison. Successful participants also receive an annual membership to Western Maine Fish & Game. Many other courses and weekly events are also available.
