Is it legal for me to get a lighter 3.5 lb 2 stage trigger for my new (2005) AR-15 ? Or would it need to be a pre-ban for this?
I have finnally had some time to get some rounds through it, the trigger seemed to break in a bit and get a little smoother but I think its still real heavy.
Thanks for letting me pick your brains....

Ed,

Trigger let-off has nothing to do with any AWB.

There are absolutely NO restrictions on changing triggers and/or guts on any AR15, as long as you don't "create an AWB" (as defined in our dumb laws) or convert it from semi-auto to full-auto.

Have a blast! [wink]

You're welcome!

Check on some good AR15 resources (including Tony and Derek here), just to make sure that whatever you do is appropriate for the use (or matches) you desire to use it in.

Ed,

I'm not sure if you ever want to shoot in a High Power match, the trigger limit there is 4.5 lbs. IM me if you want some places that sell good triggers. Even if you get your current trigger to break at 3.5 it may not be a consistant second stage, and your accuracy will show.
