MA House Bill 2091 - 5 Hours Live Fire Training To Get License

The "fifty rounds" may be copied from the LE requirements, but the 5 hours is just a fever dream.

My Florida CHL required "live fire"... all of about 5 seconds of it to "demonstrate competency with a firearm". Literally just had to fire 3 rounds with the instructor there to confirm you followed the basic rules and they all went safely down-range (didn't even need to be on the paper).

A family member took the course in Florida and the live Fire was 1 round into a sand trap.

I have a better idea......what to de-incentivise illegal gun activity?

Make the punishment really, really extreme.

Don't keep hammering the honest law abiding citizens.
That would make sense if you were trying to lower violent crime. Sadly their ultimate goal is lower LEGAL gun ownership.

Not sure if serious, antis would love that bullshit and it would take already bad laws and make them worse, and not affect crime at all to
boot. For most of these stupid f***ing gun laws the line between a law abiding citizen and a criminal WRT "trafficking" guns, etc, is already razor thin.

It's kind of like saying "LETS MAKE MURDER MORE ILLEGAL!!!!" [rofl] Look at other commie states like NY and NJ where gun laws are pretty
stiffly enforced (they are very tough on unlawful possession, for example) the end reality is nothing comes out of it in terms of deterring violent crime. People who
want to shoot other people in the face are going to laugh at the notion of fire and brimstone felonies for gun laws, etc.

How much training is required to be a state Rep. ?
It takes a minimum of 16 years, 12 listening to socialist public school teachers and another four at some useless liberal arts college or university listening to the "experts" on how we all should live and what we should be allowed to do.

I'm sure it doesn't matter to them that not everyone that owns firearms. has an LTC ever plans on shooting them.
Plenty of collectors, family heirlooms, inheritance firearms that will probably never be fired.

Make the training mandatory, then make no courses or instructors certified to provide the mandatory training and or shut down all the ranges. Massachusetts loves creating impossible or impossibly vague conditions that can't be satisfied as defacto bans that otherwise would be blatantly unconstitutional.

Brilliant plan... they can pass a live fire requirement, but they can't force private ranges to open their doors to non members to meet that requirement.

There are 230,590,000 licensed drivers in the United States. (projected number for 2020)

Of this number, over 50% do not have any formal driver's education and were taught by poor drivers.
In 2014, the economic impact of vehicle crashes was in excess of 1,000,000,000,000.00 thats ONE TRILLION WITH A T.
In 2016 there were 6,296,000 police reported vehicle crashes. 37,461 deaths, 2,443,000 injured, 96 deaths per day or 1 death every 15 seconds from motorvehicle crashes.

In 2010, the dollar cost for medical care and lost productivity alone from vehicle crashes was in excess of 99 billion dollars.....this does not include property damage losses.

NOW TELL ME AGAIN....WHO NEEDS TRAINING, DRIVERS OR GUN OWNERS??????
Take it easy Eddie before we all end up in drivers ed again !

I'm not in favor of this but I'm curious of what people would think if they offered a real trade. They get their live fire requirement, and in return make the LTC shall issue with no suitability BS and prohibit individual town/city/PD/CoP/LO from adding additional application requirements?

And this is about MA and it's current situation, you know, reality in MA. So put aside the 2a is my permit for the time being, and would you see this as an improvement for MA or not.

I'm thinking they will pas this no matter what we say, and maybe we can get something for our side. I don't like dealing with the devil, but if the choice is hell or purgatory, well....

Deal or No Deal?
No Deal!
Would it change your mind if it was a given that the current bill would go through? So the choice would be the bill as is, or the bill with the conditions I mentioned?

I totally get the NO! to the bill, I just don't think that's how it's going to go down given the dominance of the antis in the MA legislature.

I am the first one that appreciates some incrementalism to get our rights back, but F THAT! The 2A can't be more clear. It just can't. I'm still hoping against hope that the NEXT gun decision by USSC will wipe out May Issue. Apply to the state. Get your license. Period. This whole 18 different fingerprints and crap is just that - crap. It's 2020. They need a NEW set of prints to see if I'm a criminal???? Really?????

(and that's my mASS compromise - because TBH, Con-Carry is the only correct carry. So my incrementalism to mASS is that you can still issue me a license. . . . for now.)

So I dump 50 rounds out of the Tommy drum. What do I do for the remaining 4 hrs and 59 minutes and 50 seconds? Jack.
OK, so four quick 10-round mag dumps from Jill's Mini 14 and 10 blasts from my Remington 870. Can be arranged and accomplished within a couple of minutes. Jack, bring a deck of cards. We can spend the rest of the time playing Texas Hold 'em!

No compromises!
Mr. Goat f_cker can screw himself!
I'm done with any more steps back.
Charge the criminals in Mass with all the laws of weapon violations!
This does nothing more than infringe on OUR rights!
This is tyranny at it's finest!

Most police departments don't even have a range. I'm aware that Lexington and Westford do. Are there any others in the area?

Maynard PD uses Maynard Rod & Gun Club for their range. It's not a dedicated range like Lexington, but I'll go with "quasi-range."

What problem is he trying to solve with this? Have there been many incidents have there been where a non-police officer drew their carry weapon on a legitimate threat, fired and hit an innocent? How many in Massachusetts? Nationwide?

The problem is you and I being able to own firearms.
We are well past the pretext of " Public safety".

Linsky being Linsky... the Natick village idiot.

I guess someone has to be our MA moron equivalent of Hank Johnson. [thinking]
Yes, he is definitely a psycho with serious hoplophobic issues and an insult to the reputation of the average harmless village idiot who is only detrimental to his or her own self. This fool is a serious threat to all gun owners in all 351 cities, towns and villages in this socialist state!

At some point people are going to have to realize that the all or nothing approach has not, and will not, work. Oh it sounds good, just like "Free Healthcare" but it not going to happen. They didn't take away our rights all at once, they did it one little step at a time. And if you stick to the all or nothing in MA, you will get one of those, and it will be nothing. SCOTUS isn't going to magically overturn decades of law. No one is even trying to get rid of May v. Shall issue in MA, or suitability which gives the the CoP a catch all that he can use to enforce additional requirements. And is anyone even thinking of fighting those additional requirements?

Watch, this bill is going to sail through the Legislature. And there are no worries about it being challenged, other states already have this.

MA has always been important to me, it's my home state and I spent most of my life there, all but 3 years until I moved to NH. And I'd love it if I could come back. But between the way the MA Gov treats it people on taxes and the BS bills on firearms, and so many unwilling to see what is not working, I don't see how I could ever return. I'll keep sending money to GOAL and Comm2a, and sending email to Reps and Senators. But without some reality, it's not going to help.
