Is my Bushmaster rifle Pre-Ban or Post-Ban?

They must have discontinued the info. You may be able to call or email them and find out.

I just email them with the SN and they sent an email back stating whether or not my rifle left the factory as a complete rifle.

I still have the email[smile]

+1

E-mail during normal business hours and the response is quick (<1 hour)

The list on AR15.com is good, but it doesn't tell you how it left the factory, rifle or just a lower.

I think the Bushmaster FAQ links are dynamic. Try this:

1. Go to the support link:http://www.bushmaster.com/support.asp

2. Select "View FAQs Now" at the top of the page.

3. Search in the Bushmaster Technical Data area.

The response in the FAQ is:
If you send me us complete serial number we can look it up to determine if it is pre or post ban. Only lower receivers shipped as complete rifles before the Federal Ban of 9-13-94 are pre ban.

Some States have Laws that do not allow the pre ban type firearms unless the are true pre ban models manufactured before the Federal Ban such as CT, MA, NJ, Puerto Rico and NY

Or you can just go to http://www.bushmaster.com/faqs/?f=118 (saw the direct link when I double-checked the steps I posted.) [rolleyes]

The list at AR15.com is helpful but not so exact for all manufacturers. For example, for Armalite/Eagle, it indicates that slightly over S/N 30,000 was the Pre-Ban cut-off, but recommend that you call to verify becasue some Eagle lowers below the 30,000 range were determined to be POST ban by BATF. Armalite charges $30 plus postage ($4.95) for the "Letter of Authenticity".
