I have bought more than a few gun mags from CVS in NH. I went in about 2 weeks ago and they were all taken off the shelves. So I asked to speak to the manager and asked her where they went, she said they were remodeling and took them down. The story didnt make sense, and now the remodelling is complete ..NO gun mags. So I started looking at CVSs in my local area and have yet to find one that has any gun mags, can you guys check your CVSs when you go in, I might have to take my business elsewhere.

I regularly purchase gun mags from my local CVS. As a matter of fact I was in mine yesterday looking through several different ones.

Well, CVS has the right not to stock gun mags.

You have the right not to shop there.

I think I still will though.

it's cheaper to subscribe to the said magazines anyway... so i'm not worried [smile]

for the occasional purchase, maybe it's time to hit your local walmart...

I had to read the first post 3 times to figure out you meant magazines, as in glossy gun porn (with really great articles).

Personally I don't care what CVS does. They are a retail company and can sell whatever they want. Besides, I get subscriptions to the stuff I read.

CVS can weigh the market value of the magazines just like any other company. It may have nothing to do with politics too.

If the product isn't moving, it makes no sense to sell it in the store.

Of course, I was picturing detachable magazines rather than print media and was like, "I never remember seeing firearms magazines at the local CVS"

I saw one in CVS yesterday...

You do realize that they have to turn over inventory - and once it's sold, they don't get any more in until the next month. It seems likely that if they do normally stock it that they're simply out of stock.

What the manager told me was they didnt have room for all the mags, seems unlikely but thats why im just asking around. Of course they can pick and choose what mags they carry and I can choose to shop elsewhere. I get plenty of gun mags it was more the principle of choosing the gun mags to remove if that was the case. Thanks for the replies.

DOH! I was thinking the same thing until I got further into the thread. I was starting to wonder if they would start carrying ammo and components. [laugh]

Oh, those. I was wondering about gun mags in CVS. I almost thought it really was time to move to NH.

Magazines change on a newsstand... it's the nature of the business. Last time I was in this local CVS (Boston) they had some photo mags but no gun mags. This time they had a mag about AR-15s, but no photo mags.

Sooo their anti photo now...I knew it, im boycotting them.

Cvs as a company does not chose what is on the news rack. A 3rd party vendor has been contracted to do that work. The store it self has nothing to do with what is there.

At first read, I thought I was in a parallel universe or something, in which CVS was selling 9mm, 40 cal, and 45 cal mags.

Then a guy from Brockton, MA said he had them at his CVS and I KNEW something was wrong.

Magazines, as in monthly publications, makes A LOT more sense!

I don't really care if they stop carrying them. No reason to boycott the store. Now, if they started denying licensed firearms in their store, that would be a different story.

Yup, same here. Read the OP 3 times, trying to figure out where the "Mystery" isle is in CVS that carries gun magazines..... duh, wrong magazines its been a long weekend

If you ask if it is OK to CCW there, I'm sure that they will accommodate you [wink] . . . with signs forbidding guns, that is! If you ask . . . the answer in 99.9999% of cases will be HELL NO!

As for paper gun mags, one must understand that there is a "display on", "remove on" date for each magazine and most places put up/pull mags based on that. Since most gun pubs are actually published by only a few companies, it might just be that they all have the same "pull date". Suggest you go back in a week or two and see if they have new issues of gun mags on the rack to replace the older ones they pulled (or sold) before getting panties in a twist.

Nooooo, I'm not going to ask! LOL I'm saying if they started putting up signs at all their stores, I might consider Walgreens or someplace else. Yes, I know the sign means jack, but I don't like to spend my money at a place that doesn't respect my right to defend myself.

CVS magazine racks have always been testosterone challenged. I wouldn't hold it against them they just cater to their customers.

I used to work for a 24/Hr CVS. Thats the only reason i usualy avoid going there. I just cant stand the place any more. Its mostly the one store I worked at, I hated the management, and im not alone in my sentiment. I worked a night shift, it was me (some sort of quazi-head cashier at the time) my "supervisor"...because someone has to make more than me to do nothing all night, and a pharmacist out back. No carry allowed at work, which bothered me, as i was usualy the only person in the front of the store, often had $100's of cash immediatly avalible, and $1000's more in the safe, not to mention all the "fun stuff" people crave in the back of the store. We had gun mags (the glossy picture book kind) but as was mentioned, we didnt have a say in what we got each week/month, the store doesnt even own them until they are sold at the register. anything unsold gets shipped back to the supplier. just as a side story and not to start any "open carry" fights, at 6am one morning I had a guy some in OC'ing. The few other people in line didnt seem to realize he had a gun (he was at the end of a 3 person line) and when he got to me and I realized...I honestly couldnt have cared less. It was in a holster, and more than anything I was jealous he could have it in the store and i couldnt. lol

To add to this, it also seems that CVS as well as many other shops are cutting the space in their planograms for magazines nowadays. It puts them in a position of really having to cut deep on what is displayed.

I said the same thing to myself "where the hell does he live? they sell mags at cvs?"

I was in the cvs yesterday, and the ones here in MA only were selling pre-ban mags!

Honestly I don't think most gun magazines have all that much value. I have yet to find a print magazine on guns that is very critical of the particular firearm they are reviewing. They likely won't get free demos again if they do. I can find multiple good online reviews of a firearm often before they make it into print. Half the magazine's content is ads. There is a reason print media in general is failing. I can see CVS shrinking the shelf space of magazines in general because we are buying less of them.

Thinking of it.... it would be kind of cool to open a convenience store in NH called "Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms" .
