The American Firearms School will be hosting an introduction to USPSA/IPSC shooting course on 12/3 and 12/10. This is one course offered on two days from 10AM until about 5PM on Sat and 4PM on Sunday. We plan on starting the actual class at 10 sharp, so please show up a bit early to check in.
Pre-registration is required.
The course is $75 and includes lunch both days. You'll need a handgun, belt mounted holster, 2-3 magazines or speedloaders and magazine carriers if you have them. Loaner equipment can be arranged. You can bring your own ammo (150 rounds) or buy it at AFS the day of the class.
The class goal is to get students who already have basic handgun skills ready for a USPSA match. Please sign up for one of the introduction to pistol course instead of this one if you are not already experienced in safe operation of a center fire handgun. Course students will have the first shot at signing up for the January match at AFS - every match last year was a sellout.
The course will also count for a MA license (MA course LTC-013), but we keep that optional part at the end since most people don't need this (it could be convenient for a RI resident applying for a non-resident license).
I will be teaching this course with several other experienced USPSA competitors. We aren't world chamions or grizzled veterans of the street, but we've have enough experience to make sure you'll get a thorough understanding of the basics and we are NRA and MSP certified instructors. (Note: this is not an NRA course)
Although competition gives one a great chance to develop gun handling skills, it is important to remember that focus of this class is competition. We will not be making any attempt to run it as a "tactical course" or teach specific self defense techniques.
The instructors are doing this on a volunteer basis to support the sport. All financial arrangements and registration need to be made directly with the American Firearms School - http://www.americanfirearmsschool.com
